Qualifications

  • HND/BSc in Engineering, Science or a related Field
  • Certification in ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 as an Auditor/Lead Auditor is a plus
  • Minimum of 10 years HSE experience of which 5 years must be at a senior management level in the oil and gas/LNG /Manufacturing sector.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ previous safety experience in some of the following areas: safety program development, fire prevention, hazardous materials, qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, process safety management, process hazard analysis, incident investigation and the development and implementation of safe operations procedures and processes.
  • Professional membership or registration in Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals.
  • Experience in the industrial construction field with in-depth HSE field work.
  • Sound negotiation skills, strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as being able to be a self-starter.
  • Able to work with deadlines and possess a proven track record of delivering required projects in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with all internal organization departments, suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Successful Candidate Shall be responsible for:
  • Support the Project and Operations team in all aspects of safety, occupational health, and environmental issues.
  • Attend pre-job, planning and client meetings as required on HSE-related matters.
  • Support the department on the implementation of company-wide HSE initiatives.
  • Investigate and complete the close-out process of all Accident Investigation Reports and prepare/submit lessons learnt to the HSE Manager for promulgation to the management.
  • Track and provide regular HSE performance reporting.
  • Conduct HSE training and orientation for all new employees.
  • Ensure all worksites are HSE compliant with company policies and safety standards.
  • Support construction site HSE personnel in developing the worksite’s HSE campaigns and good practices.
  • Implementation of HSE Management System standards
  • Promoting awareness and implementation of HSE Policies, Procedures and Objectives.
  • Instilling good HSE Culture amongst staff
  • Preparing of HSE Documents and hazard register.
  • Coordinating emergency drills and gap analysis
  • Analyzing hazards, recommend control measures and ensuring its implementation
  • Preparing risk assessment for all activities
  • Ensuring compliance with all contract HSE requirements
  • Preparation of HSE Bulletin
  • Completion and follow-up of all Permit to work system/JSA
  • Conducting HSE Induction for new employee, contractors, visitors, and quarterly induction for all staff.
  • Carrying out HSE site visits/inspections and reporting same.
  • Ensuring that toolbox meetings are conducted by Project teams
  • Liaising with Safety Committee chair and ensure meetings are scheduled, conducted and records retained.
  • Providing HSE inputs for tendering
  • participating in near miss/incident/accident investigation and reporting same.
  • Developing HSE training materials and ensuring that HSE trainings are conducted as planned.
  • Ensuring that all personnel offshore requirements are up to date.
  • Ensuring that Vehicle inspections are done, and observations tracked to closure
  • Liaising with the warehouse and ensuring availability of required PPE and keeping track records of issued PPE
  • Reporting UAUC accordingly.
  • Conducting behavior-based safety as required
  • And any other responsibilities as may be assigned
